1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the website recognize your device and remember information about your visit.
Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period or until manually deleted.
Essential cookies are necessary for the website to function properly and cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
2. Cookies We Use
Essential Cookies Only
We use essential authentication cookies to keep you logged in securely. These cookies:
- Verify your identity when you access Dashzz
- Keep you logged in across sessions
- Protect your account from security threats
- Enable core features like session management
What data do cookies contain? Our cookies contain securely encoded JWT (JSON Web Token) authentication tokens including your user ID and session identifiers. We store the minimum data necessary for authentication and security.
How long do cookies last?
- Authentication tokens expire after 2 hours to 90 days depending on your "Remember me" preference
- Tokens have a fixed expiration time encoded in the JWT (not browser-session-based)
- Logging out immediately invalidates your authentication token
- You can delete cookies anytime through your browser settings
Security measures: All cookies are configured with industry-standard security protections to prevent unauthorized access and cross-site attacks.
User Preferences (Not Stored in Cookies)
Your preferences (theme, background, language, timezone, date/time format) are stored in your account database, NOT in cookies. This means:
- Your preferences sync across all devices
- Clearing cookies won't reset your preferences
- Manage preferences in Settings
3. Cookies We Do NOT Use
We are committed to user privacy and do NOT use:
- Tracking cookies (Google Analytics, etc.)
- Advertising cookies
- Third-party analytics or marketing cookies
- Cross-site tracking cookies
- Social media tracking cookies
This means no consent banner is required - we only use strictly necessary cookies (authentication + security) that are legally exempt from consent requirements under ePrivacy Directive Recital 66. Cloudflare's security cookie is considered essential for protecting service availability.
4. Third-Party Cookies
Google OAuth (Optional Sign-In Method)
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google may set cookies on their domain (accounts.google.com). These cookies are governed by Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We only receive your email and name for authentication. Google's cookies are managed by Google, not Dashzz.
Paddle (Payment Processing)
During checkout, Paddle may set cookies on their domain (paddle.com) for fraud prevention and secure payment processing. These cookies are governed by Paddle's Privacy Policy: https://www.paddle.com/legal/privacy
We do not store payment card details. Paddle's cookies are managed by Paddle, not Dashzz.
Cloudflare (Security & DDoS Protection)
Cookie Name: __cf_bm (Cloudflare Bot Management)
Cloudflare provides security services including DDoS protection, bot detection, and abuse prevention for our infrastructure.
What it does:
- Distinguishes legitimate users from bots and malicious traffic
- Protects against DDoS attacks and service disruptions
- Ensures service availability and performance
- Duration: 30 minutes
- Domain: app.dashzz.com
Why we consider it essential: This cookie is necessary for security and service availability. Without bot management, malicious traffic could overwhelm our service and prevent legitimate users from accessing Dashzz.
Privacy: Cloudflare processes minimal data for bot detection. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/
AI Services
Our AI providers do not set cookies in your browser. AI requests are processed via secure server-to-server API calls.
5. Managing Cookies
Browser Settings
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Search for "dashzz.com" to find and manage our cookies.
Important: Disabling essential cookies will prevent you from logging into Dashzz, as they are required for authentication and security.
Alternative: Log Out from Dashzz
To clear your session cookies immediately, log out from Dashzz Settings. This removes all authentication cookies and ends your session.
6. Legal Basis (Why We Don't Need a Consent Banner)
Under GDPR Article 6(1)(b) and ePrivacy Directive Recital 66, essential cookies do not require consent because they are "strictly necessary for the provision of a service explicitly requested by the user."
What this means:
- You requested our service by signing up for Dashzz
- Authentication cookies are required to provide that service
- Without these cookies, we cannot deliver the service you requested
- Therefore, consent is not required for these essential cookies
Third-party cookies: Google OAuth and Paddle may set cookies on their own domains during sign-in and checkout. These are governed by their respective privacy policies and consent mechanisms.
7. Your Rights
